Interurban |
The "DETROIT TRANSIT HISTORY.info" web-site
is my attempt at trying to accurately portray the City of Detroit's rich
long history in the public transportation arena. Although this region's
current offering of rapid or mass transit leaves much to be desired, the
city's former municipally owned and operated transit system -- known then as
the D.S.R. -- was at one time a proud, reliable, and respectable leader in
the public transit industry. |

Michigan Transit Museum was established in

mass transportation systems and equipment, and to collect, preserve, display
and operate such equipment.
Membership in MTM is open to anyone who is interested in railroad history
and would like to help with our various projects. Applications are available
at the depot museum or caboose station. The organization operates on the
aspirations of its members. Volunteers are always needed to help maintain
the trackage, equipment and historic depot. |

Rich in detailed information about family,

important source document for lumbering operations in the 19th century. It
may be found at the Library of Congress in the section American Memory,
under the heading Pioneering the Upper Midwest: Books from Michigan,
Minnesota, and Wisconsin, ca. 1820-1910. That site contains both
transcription and images of the pages of the original. |
