Orchard Lake Schools The Orchard Lake Schools, a private, Catholic center of formation and education, are located on the eastern shore of Orchard Lake, 25 miles northwest of Detroit and five miles southwest of Pontiac in Orchard Lake, Michigan. The 115-acre campus has been designated a Michigan Historical Site and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Other Historical Societies & Research Sites

The Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest Edgar Rice Burroughs (ERB), author of the Tarzan novels and graduate of the Michigan Military Academy, was born and raised in Oak Park.  This museum contains items relating to ERB as well as other Oak Park residents: Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright.
Burroughs Bibliophiles The Burroughs Bibliophiles is a world-wide organization of aficionados who share a love for the works and characters of the American author Edgar Rice Burroughs, the celebrated author of Tarzan. The group's membership list boasts its fair share of best-selling authors, artists, scientists, teachers and academicians, as well as readers who simply love a good story well told.

Interurban The "DETROIT TRANSIT HISTORY.info" web-site is my attempt at trying to accurately portray the City of Detroit's rich long history in the public transportation arena. Although this region's current offering of rapid or mass transit leaves much to be desired, the city's former municipally owned and operated transit system -- known then as the D.S.R. -- was at one time a proud, reliable, and respectable leader in the public transit industry.

Michigan Transit Museum Michigan Transit Museum was established in 1973 as a non-profit corporation to compile and record historical data on mass transportation systems and equipment, and to collect, preserve, display and operate such equipment.
Membership in MTM is open to anyone who is interested in railroad history and would like to help with our various projects. Applications are available at the depot museum or caboose station. The organization operates on the aspirations of its members. Volunteers are always needed to help maintain the trackage, equipment and historic depot.

Oakland County Pioneer & Historical Society Today, the mission of the Society has become more focused, and is to "identify, record, collect, preserve and make available objects and materials reflecting the history of the people, places and events of Oakland County. To restore and maintain the Governor Moses Wisner estate, known as Pine Grove, as a recognized national and state historic site."

Oakland Township Historical Society Oakland Township Historical Society was formed in 1974 by a group of dedicated individuals interested in preserving the unique history of Oakland Township. Today the Society is approximately 125 members and is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Waterford Historical Society We are dedicated to restoring, preserving and conserving the history and artifacts of Waterford. We present the history through our exhibits in the Hatchery House, Log Cabin, Playhouse, Caboose and future buildings.
Michigan Counties The Michigan County Histories collection is a collaborative effort of Michigan's Council of Library Directors. The collection is projected to provide access to 192 histories dating from 1866 to 1926. There are 195 volumes in 164 titles currently online.
