Tarzan,
My Jungle King
was written specifically for the
silent film, The Son of Tarzan, which was made in 1920. The film starred
Kamuela Searle in the lead, with Manilla Martin as his love interest, Meriem.
Playing "second fiddle" was P. Dempsey Tabler (as Tarzan) and
Karla Schramm (as Jane).
Edgar Rice Burroughs, author of the Tarzan novels, attended the MMA for fours years and after his 1895 graduation served as Assistant Commandant for one year (1896-1897).
